In honor of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, we would like to celebrate our diverse team who makes second chances at life and healing possible. Join us as we recognize Senior Aftercare Liaison, Kathryn. She shared, “At Nevada Donor Network, our dedication goes far beyond organ, eye and tissue donation itself. Through our aftercare program, we offer ongoing support and resources to help families cope with their grief in the weeks, months and even years after losing a loved one. For the past 30 years, I have had the privilege of working in the field of donation, walking alongside families as they navigate unimaginable loss, offering comfort and witnessing their strength as they begin to heal. This work is not just my profession; it is deeply personal. I have been touched by donation in many ways. Several of my loved ones have become heroic donors after their passing and I had the honor of supporting my uncle, who was a father figure through his journey to receiving a heart transplant. To witness families transformed through grief and finding hope again is profoundly inspiring. It is what drives my continued commitment to this mission and strengthens my dedication to serving our community every single day. One activity that keeps me connected to my culture is hula dancing. For many years, I was part of a halau, where I practiced and performed hula, honoring tradition and storytelling through dance. I also take great joy in cooking traditional Hawaiian foods. What I enjoy most about my culture is the food, hula and the joy of gathering with family.
