Today is our final day of our 31 Days of Women of Influence! We want to thank each and every one of the amazing women we were able to feature! It has been an absolute honor to recognize the tremendous accomplishments of women in our community. Bakersfield truly has a culture of giving, unsurpassed by any other community. It is vital that, as women, we continue to lift each other up. Our final honoree... ELAINE MCNEARNEY! Elaine McNearney is a native of Bakersfield who attended Bakersfield High School, Bakersfield College and UC Santa Barbara where she received a BS in Developmental Psychology. Much of her adult life was spent in Telecommunication sales for AT&T and Bright House/Spectrum and she had another career selling advertising for various television stations in the area. In late 2012 Ms. McNearney left the corporate world, followed her passion and founded the Bakersfield affiliate of the international women’s workforce development organization Dress for Success. Dress for Success Bakersfield takes client referrals from over sixty Partner Agencies. Dress for Success has provided services to over 3,500 women. Those are not limited to clothing, but also resume assistance, job search, mock interviews and other job preparation programs. Ms. McNearney has served on many Non-Profits Boards. Such as STEPS DUI School, the Kern County Museum Foundation, The Gourmet Gala Fundraising Committee for the Bakersfield Homeless Center, and a member of the Bakersfield Women’s Business Conference Board for over 15 years. She is a 1999 graduate of Leadership Bakersfield and a 2015 graduate of the Kern Leaders Academy. Elaine retired from DFSB in 2025.
