Head and neck cancer is the general term for cancers that develop in the mouth, nose and sinuses, salivary glands, and throat and voice box (larynx). These cancers can have different names, depending on where the cancer starts growing. A few examples are oral cancer (which can form in your lips, gums, tongue, the cells of your cheeks and lips, and the top or bottom of your mouth); salivary gland cancer; nasal cavity and paranasal sinus cancer (starting in the hollow area of your nose or your sinuses); nasopharyngeal cancer (the upper part of your throat); oropharyngeal cancer (the middle part of your throat, including your tonsils and the base of your tongue); hypopharyngeal cancer (the bottom part of your throat); and laryngeal cancer (your voice box, which houses your vocal cords). The most common symptoms of these cancers are a persistent sore throat, constant earaches or ear infections, frequent headaches, pain in your face, neck, or upper teeth that does not go away, pain when you chew or swallow, voice hoarseness, trouble breathing or speaking, a lump in your throat, mouth, or neck, a sore on your tongue or mouth that does not heal, or swelling in your jaw, neck, or side of face. Risk factors include tobacco use and alcohol consumption, HPV, Epstein-Barr virus, a weakened immune system, and poor oral hygiene. Talk to your clinician if you are experiencing any of these signs or symptoms, and click on our link here for additional details. https://medlineplus.gov/headandneckcancer.html #headandneckcancer #headandneckcancerawareness #headandneckcancerawarenessmonth #cancerawareness #headcancer #neckcancer #oralcancer #healthcare #cancer101 #americancancersocietyy #preventivecare #cancersurvivor #hnc (fb)

Did you know that testicular cancer can usually be treated successfully if it is caught early? The American Cancer Society advises that men should be aware of the signs and symptoms of testicular cancer, and to see their doctor ASAP if they feel a lump in their testicle. Additional signs and symptoms of testicular cancer are swelling in the testicle, pain or heaviness in the testicles, abnormally early puberty in boys, and in rare cases, breast growth or soreness. Symptoms of more advanced testicular cancer include lower back pain, shortness of breath, cough, chest pain, belly pain and/or headaches. Risk factors can include an undescended testicle (where one or both testicles do not move away from the abdomen and into the scrotum before birth), family history, HIV infection, and age (half of testicular cancers happen in men from ages 20-34). Talk to your doctor about your risk factors, and for more information on self-exams and early detection, click on the link here. https://www.cancer.org/cancer/types/testicular-cancer/detection-diagnosis-staging/detection.html #TesticularCancerAwareness #TesticularCancerAwarenessMonth #testicularcancer #Healthcare #cancer101 #CancerAwareness #cancersurvivor #patientadvocacy #preventivehealthcare #healthylifestyle #cancerprevention #cancersurvivorship (fb)
