Attention Cardinals: A heat advisory has been issued for Friday, May 16 from 2 – 7 p.m. Please remember to take breaks when working outside and to hydrate before and during work. Air temperatures will vary from 96 to 107 degrees and/or heat index values will range from 106 to 110 degrees. These above normal temperatures and elevated heat indices are forecast to continue over the weekend. Due to this heat wave occurring early in the season, many will not yet be acclimated to this type of heat and thus the risk for heat related illness will be higher than normal for those not taking proper precautions. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Stay safe, Cardinals! (fb)
