Each Memorial Day, members of our community come together to remember and honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. This year's service was held at the Hemlock Farms Volunteer Fire & Rescue Co. (HFVF&R Co.) flagpole. The fire company and the HFVF&R Co. Chaplains hosted the event. The diverse faiths of our community were represented by all of the houses of worship. The Deanery Choir and Rabbi Bickhardt showed honor for our fallen heroes through song. Scout Pack 007 led the Pledge of Allegiance and presented the colors. Public Safety Director Bill Durando introduced each speaker. Board Member and veteran Michael Smolenski was the keynote speaker. The patriotism and gratitude of our community were evident in the large attendance at the event. We thank our hosts, speakers, musicians, and everyone else who made this event possible. Most importantly, we are thankful for those who served and sacrificed their lives for our freedom. (fb)
