Founded in 1872, L’Union Française is the oldest non-profit Franco-Louisiana organization. Our mission is to promote and preserve the French language and Francophone cultures in Louisiana and New Orleans. LUNION FRANAISE WAS FORMED IN 1872 WITH THE PURPOSE OF ENGAGING IN EDUCATIONAL AND CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES, AND TO TEACH, PROMOTE, AND PRESERVE THE FRENCH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE IN THE STATE OF LOUISIANA.

Through 150 years of service this organization is dedicated to its mission of promoting and preserving the French language and French and Francophone culture in the city of New Orleans and Louisiana. LUnion Franaise is a nonprofit organization that supports its language school on Prytania Street in New Orleans recognizes outstanding high school French students with the LUnion Franaise Prix dExcellence and funds a grants program for elementary schools that teach and promote the French language.
