THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL INSTITUTE OF THE PEE DEE EXISTS TO PERFORM AND PROMOTE ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH IN THE PEE DEE REGION OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND, IN CONNECTION THEREWITH, THE INSTITUTE WILL BE AFFILIATED WITH THE FLORENCE COUNTY MUSEUM, AN ADMINISTRATIVE DIVISION AND INSTRUMENTALITY OF FLORENCE COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA, WHICH WILL PROVIDE CURATIONAL, EDUCATIONAL, PROGRAMMING, AND OTHER SUPPORT SERVICES TO THE INSTITUTE. IN TURN, THE INSTITUTE WILL PROVIDE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SERVICES TO THE FLORENCE COUNTY MUSEUM AND SEEK TO SUPPLEMENT THE MUSEUM'S COLLECTIONS THROUGH ITEMS RECOVERED IN CONNECTION WITH THE INSTITUTE'S WORK.
