Chernobyl Childrens Project International, Inc.
Chernobyl Children?s Project International Inc., provides humanitarian and medical aid to families and communities who continue to recover from the Chernobyl disaster of 1986. When dealing with the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster, we must address a complex interplay of medical, social, economic and environmental factors, and emphasize self-sufficiency.
Our largely volunteer organization works in partnership with the people of Belarus and Ukraine to help them overcome the domino effect of poverty, poor health, and social, and psychosocial impact that continues to plague so many more than 20 years after the accident. Our work with the children of Belarus was featured in HBO's Academy-Award winning film, Chernobyl Heart. In 2006, we were awarded "Special Congressional Recognition" for "outstanding humanitarian work to aid children affected by the Chernobyl catastrophe," and were featured in PEOPLE Magazine, and on CNN and the "CBS Early Morning Show." We are a United Nations-recognized NGO, and we are the sister organization of Chernobyl Children?s Project International of Ireland.
