I think the wheelhouse might have been the heart of the boat. It was where we watched a thousand sunsets and had a “Marvelous Day” underway, watching all the Marvel movies back to back while the kids took turns driving. It’s where we did school and James tried to teach the kids about navigation, it’s where we gathered and told stories and held our breath. There were naps and tears and snuggles and shooting stars and watching Echo slide across the floor as the waves heaved us back and forth. A million backdrops to a million moments slowly being disassembled and cut apart. This boat raised us in a million ways and today it’s a hard one. I am so incredibly thankful for this tiny boat the Lord gave us for a while and all of the moments I will treasure forever. (fb)
