The object of the General Charitable Society of Newburyport is to assist Newburyport residents with a temporary allowance or by such other aid as the Board of Directors deems advisable. Financial assistance given includes: dental, medical, household assistance, rents, fuel assistance, groceries, student aid, and utility bills. In order to receive aid, an individual must have been a resident of Newburyport for at least 12 months, and complete an application. All applications are reviewed by the board monthly.
