Home - Lancaster County Conservation District Who We Are For over 70 years the purpose of the Conservation District has been to increase awareness of the relationship between human activities and our natural environment. The District helps to focus attention on the wise use of the land water and related natural resources. It provides assistance to individuals and public and private organizations in solving the complex problems of our environment. Our Mission To promote the stewardship of natural resources for Lancaster County and beyond.

Conservation Foundation of Lancaster County
At the District, the 2020s saw new projects begin and some bittersweet goodbyes. The Manure Injection project began in the early 2020s and the District began administering CAP and ACAP as well. The retirements of Dennis Eby, the Plain Sect Outreach Coordinator, and Gerald Heistand, a long-standing employee after 40 years at the District took place in 2022.
