Strand Ballroom Corporation
The Strand Ballroom Corporation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to support the arts and community engagement. Its federal tax ID number is 82-2613766.
History and Purpose
Originally known as the Strand Theater, it was built in 1919 for the golden age of vaudeville theater and movies. The venue was renamed The Strand Ballroom in 2015. In 2018, it converted to a nonprofit organization, simplifying its name to The Strand. This transition aimed to enhance its role in serving the community through various arts programs and initiatives.
Services and Programs
The Strand offers several community-focused services:
- Live Shows: Hosting a variety of performances, including music, theater, and film.
- Venue Rental: Providing a historic setting for private events, such as weddings and corporate functions.
- Filming Location: Available for filming purposes, retaining its classic charm and architectural details.
The main theater accommodates over 300 guests, with a small dance floor and a 20'x30' movie screen. A smaller side theater seats about 80 people, suitable for seminars and presentations.
Community Initiatives
One of their significant programs is the "Dreams to Stage" initiative, which supports local schools by donating stage time and funds to their arts programs. This program helps students gain experience in theater production, including set building, lighting, and live sound.
