In 1945 the California Fruit Exchange (est. 1901) built a fruit packing shed located at 3550 Taylor and King Roads in Loomis. Peaches, plums and pears were brought in all summer from local farmers. The fruit was sorted, packed and shipped nationwide. THE ORGANIZATION WAS FORMED TO SAVE HERITAGE FRUIT SHEDS FROM DESTRUCTION. They are now being USED AS STORAGE AREAS, PRODUCE shop and their intended use as a public event center for the COMMUNITY and for those THROUGHOUT THE LOOMIS BASIN AND SOUTH PLACER COUNTY AREA.
