🇺🇸 2nd Lieutenant William G. Wilson (Bill W.) served in the 66th Coast Artillery Corp. in France during World War I and buried with military honors upon his passing in 1971.🇺🇸 On Memorial Day we remember and honor all those who died whlie in service of this country. Bill’s story continued on long after his military service These photos capture a special memory for friends of The Wilson House that took place around Memorial Day, 2017 When Ozzie L. visited Lois Wilson at Stepping Stones in the 1980s she gave him a number of items which had strong connections with Bill’s roots in East Dorset, including the flag used at his interment at the East Dorset cemetery in 1971. It remained at the Griffith Library until 2017 when a donation by a friend of the Wilson House of a proper case for its display and preservation. Two members of the VFW Post 6471 of Manchester Center, VT, Marine Gunnery Sergeant E7 G. Debus and Air Force Technical Sergeant E6 P. Gaiotti came to the Wilson House, and in the room where Bill W was born in 1895, properly folded his flag with deserved honor. 🙏 Thank you for your service, 2nd Lieutenant William G. Wilson. #memorialday🇺🇸 #veteran #wwi #wwiveteran #aa #sobriety #12steps #recovery #alcoholicsanonymous (fb)
