The Canary Fund

The Canary Fund provides grants to those working toward change in Northeastern Wisconsin. Founded in 2019, The Canary Fund began as a way to honor the life and lifelong generosity of James Rivett of Green Bay, WI. The Canary Fund, established in 2019 and designated a 501C3 non-profit in 2021, recognizes the change-makers of Northeast Wisconsin who see and work to address unmet needs in our communities. Our mission is to support individuals that are not a part of registered or established organizations. We assist by providing micro-grants between $1,500-$5,000, to take early-stage projects to the next level. Our funding brings acknowledgement and validation that an applicant’s projects are important and valued in our community. Our impact on N.E. Wisconsin has far-reaching potential, as we fund projects that are not limited by a specific issue. Our main criterion is does the project create more compassionate, just or sustainable communities.
