Established in 1999, The Noah Purifoy Foundation (NPF) is a private non-profit foundation dedicated to the creative life and art practice of African American Assemblage artist, sculptor and arts educator Noah Purifoy (1917-2004). NPF’s diverse volunteer board of trustees: 1. Provide in-person arts educational experiences and online curriculum about Purifoy to middle school students in South Los Angeles through its Urban Arts Initiative. 2. Preserve and maintain Purifoy's existing works of art for public participation. 3. Maintain 10-acre Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum of Assemblage Sculpture in Joshua Tree. 4. Provide curatorial assistance giving visitors a coherent explanation of the desert art museum. 5. Organize Purifoy’s papers and develop research opportunities for scholars.
