- Member of Local 46 Injured in House Fire - Today we are taking a moment to recognize a member of IAFF Local 46 Everett Firefighters who sustained injuries while performing fire suppression efforts. On Thursday, October 24, Local 46 members responded to a residential fire and sized up what appeared to be an abandoned/vacant structure. Crews immediately conducted a fire attack, going from defensive to offensive strategies. As our crews on scene were attempting to soften the structure, one of our members fell from a second story balcony after a railing collapsed; the fall was approximately 12’-15’ in height. Crews on scene immediately raced to the aid of their Brother, and the injured member was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center for further evaluation. This member has since then been released from the hospital and is recovering at home with his family. These types of events serve as a stark reminder on how inherently dangerous the work our members do every single day. We remain proud, committed, and relentless in continuing to answer the call and carry out our duties serving the citizens of Everett as members of IAFF Local 46 Everett Firefighters. We are so grateful our member is in good spirts and is on the road to recovering from this event. Thank you to the Marysville Firefighters and Snohomish County Fire District #4 for providing automatic aid, and to the Everett Police Department for traffic control around the incident. (fb)
