ShowcaseApril 8th at 10pmStanley Nelsons We Want the Funk is a syncopated voyage through the history of funk music spanning from African soul and early jazz roots to its rise into the public consciousness. Featuring James Browns dynamism the extraterrestrial funk of George Clintons Parliament Funkadelic transformed girl group Labelle and Fela Kutis Afrobeat the story also traces funks influences on both new wave and hiphop. EVENT April 12th at 1pmJoin KEET PBS and the Humboldt County Library for a special Indie Lens PopUp event featuring Free for All The Public Library. This event includes a shortened preview screening of the film followed by a discussion with local librarians about the exciting resources and programs available through the Humboldt County Library system.
