Our mission is to inspire engagement with Croatian creative culture. Ikon Arts Foundation is a 501c3 not-for-profit cultural organization based in New York City. Our mission is to inspire engagement with Croatian creative culture in the USA. At present, it is the only organization of its kind that targets an English-speaking audience and develops projects in the USA. Creative culture is an important element of social and human development that contributes to identity building, as well as fostering economic growth and social cohesion. In 2013, Croatia will become the 28th member of the European Union, which marks an important transition for the country - politically, socially and culturally. Although Croatia has always had a unique creative culture in the eyes of its closest neighbors, internationally the identity of this culture has been always been enshrouded by the umbrella of Yugoslavia. Since gaining independence, Croatian creatives have begun to make their mark on the international scene. Ikon Arts Foundation is achieving its mission by connecting and promoting Croatian artists, designers and filmmakers through online and offline programming. This incorporates the production of Ikon Review, a digital platform and interactive space that enables readers, from around the world, to discover the work of emerging, established and iconic creative personalities from Croatia. Offline programming in New York City incorporates art and design exhibitions, and film screenings, as well as helping individuals and groups foster relationships with relevant industry professionals in the USA. Ikon Arts Foundation’s programming is targeted to Croatian-American diaspora population, creative culture enthusiasts, in general, and creative industry professionals in the USA, as well as those interested in Croatian creative culture globally.
