Healing Hearts for Bereaved Parents
Healing Hearts began in March of 1995 as the community outreach of a small Presbyterian Church in Covington WA. At the time, the goal was to provide a support-group for a community that had little in the way of help for the parents and families when one of their children has died. Over the years, the outreach grew and evolved, and in 1998, Healing Hearts applied for and was granted 501 (c)3 status and became a separate organization - apart from the founding church. The mission of this new organization was to provide services and support to bereaved parents and their families - in whatever forms that would be most meaningful - seeking to help them integrate their loss into their lives and strengthen as many families as possible in the process.
