25 years of amplifying the vision & achievements of the San Mateo Public Library. The mission of the San Mateo Public Library Foundation (SMPLF), which began in 1994, is to raise funds to support the programs and services of the San Mateo Public Library. The Foundation provides ongoing financial assistance to expand collections and to support children’s programming, the Project Read Literacy Program, the Biotechnology Learning Center, and to provide special funding for cultural programs planned by the African-American, Latino, Asian and Iranian-American Cultural Advisory Committees and other special programs the Library offers. In 2019, the Foundation contributed $300,000 toward library programs and collections.
