NC OPEN SPACES NC OPEN SPACES Black Diamond Backyard it all started with an open field Black Diamond Backyard is a wild and rambling 2 acre educational urban orchard and community garden located on the edge of downtown Greensboro North Carolina at the corner of Guilford Avenue and Prescott Street. The land was once a drop off and pick up point for a large coal and ice operation and pieces of coal can still be found on site. The propertys history and the fossils of its operation that still lay buried on site inspired our name Black Diamond. With an ever growing number of garden beds for lease as well as hundreds of fruiting shrubs and trees the Backyard offers up an urban agrarian oasis that is nothing short of magic.
