Sharing the good news of Jesus by partnering with local Christians in 112 countries around the world...'til all hear! Sharing the good news of Jesus by partnering with local Christians in 112 countries around the world...'til all hear! Headquartered in Afton, Virginia, Advancing Native Missions (ANM) is an inter-denominational, evangelical, non-profit missions organization that serves as a bridge between native (local) ministries and missionaries and the body of Christ in North America. ANM staff travel to the frontiers of global missions to personally survey and evaluate ministries that are bringing the wonderful news of Jesus to people in their own countries and communities. We look for ministries that adhere to the core beliefs of the evangelical faith, demonstrate financial accountability, and show strong evidence of spiritual fruitfulness. Currently, ANM stands behind more than 10,400 indigenous missionaries who are reaching their own people in 97 different countries around the world.

Advancing Native Missions

Overview

Advancing Native Missions (ANM) is an inter-denominational, evangelical non-profit organization based in the United States. Founded in 1992, it focuses on supporting global missions by partnering with native Christian workers in their own communities, rather than sending foreign missionaries. This approach emphasizes local leadership and sustainable ministry, allowing for more effective outreach and cultural understanding.

Mission and Activities

The mission of ANM is rooted in the belief that all people should have access to the Gospel. By partnering with native missionaries, ANM aims to reach communities where American missionaries might face cultural or linguistic barriers. Their strategy includes equipping local missionaries to spread the Gospel within their own cultures, which often results in a more cost-effective and sustainable form of ministry.

ANM works in over 100 countries, many of which have restrictions on foreign missionaries. Their native missionaries are involved in various activities, including church planting and community development. To date, ANM has supported the planting of more than 61,000 churches worldwide and is currently reaching over 1,100 people groups who previously lacked access to the Gospel.

Financial Operations

As a nonprofit, ANM operates on donations and other forms of support. They have received significant financial backing, which they use to fund their global missions and partnerships. For instance, in recent years, their total revenue has approached nearly $9 million, though their expenses can sometimes exceed their revenues, resulting in a deficit. Despite this, ANM maintains a strong financial foundation, which is essential for their ongoing operations.

Governance and Recognition

ANM is led by a board of directors who oversee its strategic direction and ensure ethical governance practices. The organization has received high ratings from charity evaluators, reflecting its effectiveness and transparency. ANM's commitment to financial accountability and reporting has been particularly noted, making it a model for other nonprofit organizations in terms of stewardship and philanthropy.

Impact and Recognition

Advancing Native Missions has been recognized for its innovative and effective approach to global missions. By supporting local leaders and equipping them to serve their communities, ANM has had a profound impact on the spread of the Gospel worldwide. Their work continues to expand, reaching new communities and people groups year by year.
