Founded in 1922, Soroptimist International of Los Angeles (SILA) is the third oldest club within Soroptimist International, an international organization for business and professional women who strive to improve the lives of women and girls locally and throughout the world. Soroptimist International comprises 72,000 members in 120 countries. With a focus on the Downtown Los Angeles communities, SILA provides major support to a local organization that provides shelter programs to women and their families who are victims of domestic violence. In addition, SILA provides an annual Joan Johnson Graduate Student Fellowship Award to a woman graduate student in Los Angeles. We also participate in Soroptimist signature programs Live Your Dream and Dream It, Be It.
