Santosha Recovery

Santosha Recovery sees contentment and addiction to be on opposite sides of the spectrum. If we can find acceptance and contentment in our being, we quit reaching out for acceptance and joy from our addictions. Santosha Recovery is an addiction recovery program using yogic philosophy and techniques to find contentment (santosha). The program consists of weekly meetings in-person and virtual from Mora, Minnesota. The program also provides through its website, Kriya Yoga and other eastern philosophy teachings, techniques, guided meditations and mantra, along with deep reflection questions and methodology so that one can have self-discovery and self-mastery on their path to sobriety.

Santosha Recovery

Santosha Recovery is a U.S. nonprofit organization, classified as a 501(c)(3), based in Mora, MN. The organization focuses on supporting addiction recovery through spiritual growth and self-discovery, incorporating principles from yoga philosophy[4].

Mission and Approach

Santosha Recovery uses Kriya Yoga techniques and the Eight Limbs of Yoga, as outlined by Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, to guide individuals toward a path of healing and liberation from addictive behaviors. The Eight Limbs of Yoga provide a holistic approach to finding contentment and freedom from mental fluctuations. This foundation allows participants to critically evaluate their thoughts and emotions, fostering mindfulness and contentment[1].

Activities

Santosha Recovery offers weekly meetings, both in-person and via Zoom, at no cost to participants. These meetings are complemented by free Hatha Yoga classes designed to support individuals in their recovery journey. The organization encourages self-awareness, self-acceptance, and spiritual growth, helping individuals understand that lasting happiness and fulfillment come from within[1][3].

Resources and Inspirations

Santosha Recovery draws inspiration from various spiritual and philosophical texts, including works by Michael A. Singer, Goswami Kriyananda, and Thich Nhat Hanh. The organization also references teachings from other Eastern practices, such as Tantra Yoga. Resources include books and podcasts by authors like Eckhart Tolle and BrenΓ© Brown[1].

Outcomes and Impact

Participants have reported significant improvements in managing stress and anger and have experienced enhanced physical well-being, such as improved posture and breathing. The program's emphasis on mindfulness and contentment helps individuals enjoy life more fully[1].

Santosha Recovery aims to help individuals recognize their true nature, moving beyond the limitations of addiction by embracing a path of self-discovery and spiritual growth. Through its approach, the organization seeks to empower individuals to find inner peace and contribute positively to their communities[1].
