The Hist. Soc. Of Middletown seeks to explore/preserve the history of the largest town in Del. Co. NY The purpose of the Historical Society of the Town of Middletown, Delaware County is to build awareness and appreciation of the heritage of the Town by discovering, preserving and making accessible historical information and materials related to the Town and its environs. These objectives will be achieved through educational programs and preservation projects, and through collaboration with other local organizations.

Because history doesnt always follow political boundaries HSM also collects and preserves stories and historic materials from contiguous towns Roxbury and Andes in Delaware County Hardenburgh and Shandaken in Ulster County and Halcott in Greene County which can only be reached through Delaware County.

Have you seen the Wall of Peace in Fleischmanns. A community mosaic dedicated to shared memories and hopes for the future, the Wall of Peace is installed on the Bridge Street bridge. Created by many people of all ages, it is made up of pieces brought from home, broken and reassembled in a patchwork quilt of tile and stone.

Historical Society of the Town of Middletown Delaware County
This was the gracious scene on Lake Switzerland, Fleischmanns sometime after 1906. The Edgewood Hotel was built in 1901 by Durwood Kelly. The steam launch was built by Burr Hubbell and was first used on Lake Wawaka, Halcottsville before it was moved to Lake Switzerland, which was constructed by Charles Vermilyea in 1906.
