Tahoe Youth and Family Services

The mission of Tahoe Youth & Family Services (TYFS) is, "t Services include a 24-hour crisis line, Project Safe Place, temporary shelter for homeless/runaway/throwaway youth, individual and family counseling, play therapy for young children, Street Outreach, Life Skills, mentoring programs, adolescent substance abuse treatment, model prevention programs (Project Alert) and support groups.  Support groups include "Young Women's Lives", "Young Men's Work", recovery & aftercare, Life Skills and Project Alert.   Services are designed to address issues such as running away, homelessness, truancy, dropping out of school, depression, suicide ideation, delinquency, substance abuse issues, family conflicts, attachment issues, youth development and issues within the home or school environment. The adolescent outpatient alcohol and drug treatment program also provides co-occurring disorder treatment, comprehensive assessments, family-centered counseling plus Life Skills and recovery support groups.
