Alexander Worth McAlister Foundation, Inc.
The Foundation was created for the purpose of providing grants to charitable, religious, scientific, literary, educational, historical preservation, land and nature organizations. Also organizations who seek to improve the status of those in adversity who need a helping hand, be it alcoholics, the homeless, battered women, drug addicts, physically or mentally handicapped, disadvantaged young people, or newly released prisoners – “the forgotten man” as Mr. McAlister once put it. Mr. McAlister was interested in religious and racial tolerance and cooperation, and was the first president and one of the founders of NCCJ of the Triad. The mission, therefore, of the Alexander Worth McAlister Foundation embodies the spirit of all these causes for the dignity, worth and betterment of mankind.
