Kihei Lutheran Church was established following a request to the Lutheran Church Mission Board in 1986. Pastor George Bement and his family were instrumental in starting the church, with the first services held in 1987 at Kihei Elementary School. Over time, the church grew and formed ecumenical relationships, notably with St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. A significant milestone was the construction of a permanent church building, which began in 2004 and was dedicated in 2006.

Developments and Recent Activities

The church has undergone expansions to accommodate its growing congregation and has engaged in various community-focused initiatives. A major building addition was completed in 2013, and the church has continued to thrive under the leadership of its pastors, including Pastor Joel Martyn, who joined in 2017.
