The Foundation provides financial and other assistance to community organizations, and students and attorneys involved in public interest projects. KHLF funds projects protecting the environment and advocating the rights of women and minorities. Recently, KHLF has funded projects protecting the rights of the physically challenged, the homeless, death row and other prison inmates, immigrants, the elderly, gays and lesbians, indigent people, and victims of hate crimes and housing discrimination. The Foundation is financed by contributions from King Hall students, alumni, and community members. Student members are responsible for directing fundraising efforts, recruiting members, and coordinating the summer projects.
