This barred owl was brought to us the other day after being hit by a car. He’s already doing much better today so we’re optimistic he’ll recover from his accident and be released in the near future. A few tidbits about barred owl coloring - - They get their name from the vertical brown bars on the white background on their chest and belly and horizontal brown bars above the chest. They are one of only three species of large owls in North America with dark eyes. Notice the coloring on his tuftless rounded head is heart-shaped. Such beautiful birds! 🦉❤️ (fb)

Our goal is to restore the health and independence of these precious creatures so they can be released back into their natural habitat. Rogers Wildlife also serves as a sanctuary for the birds deemed nonreleasable due to the extent of their injuries.
