Songwriting Works transforms lives and builds community through song and story! We offer group progr Songwriting Works' mission is to restore joy, hope, health and community through the power of song. Each year, Songwriting Works (SW) engages hundreds of older adults, professional and family care partners, youth, and music/arts professionals in collective music-making including song composition, performance, video/audio recordings and community celebrations of creativity. From program design to governance, publications to partnerships, SW is guided by 8 Principles of Creative Engagement: access, inclusion, originality, authenticity, respect, reciprocity, restoration and celebration. Participants who are living with Alzheimer's disease and related neuro-cognitive conditions, and their loved ones, have been central to our work since 1995. Since 2009, SW has also sought to explicitly engage and support family care partners in our projects whenever possible.
