Martha’s story is a definition of how investing in women creates lasting change. In 2024, Martha through her group, Kamucii Self-Help Group, received a soft loan through HopeCore’s Micro Enterprise Program. With her share and some savings, she opened a small hotel—and business took off! After repaying the loan, she qualified for an individual loan of Ksh. 60,000 ($468), which she used to lease 450 more tea bushes—on top of the 1,000 she already owned. Her tea harvest rose from 300 kg to 450 kg, boosting her income by Ksh. 3,750 ($29). Today, she runs a successful hotel and tea farming business, supports her family, and ensures her children get a good education. Another Successful Vision Clinic in the Books! We are proud to share the results of our recent Vision Clinic, where we continued our mission to support the community—especially students—with quality eye care. We screened a total of 131 clients, 124 of whom were students. We provided 46 eye drops, ordered 50 pairs of eyeglasses, and referred 14 clients for specialist review. Through eye exams, personalized care, and up-to-date education on eye health, we are not just checking vision—we are opening doors to learning, confidence, and lifelong success.
