Jan Grant was born at St. Benedict’s Hospital in Jerome and grew up on a farm nearby. Eventually, her career led her back to key roles in that very hospital before and after it became St. Luke's Jerome in 2011. Grant was recently celebrated by her team as they officially saw her off into retirement on May 5. She began working in medical records nearly 45 years ago at the Magic Valley Hospital, well before it became part of the St. Luke's team. Grant returned to Jerome after a few years as a coding supervisor in Logan, Utah. She started a private consulting service that operated for 25 years and was recruited by St. Luke's Magic Valley in 2010. Over the years she held multiple leadership roles and had been an active participant in multiple system initiatives, including the build and implementation of Epic and conversion of ICD-10 coding platform. Grant was also active in her professional organization, Idaho Health Information Association, holding a variety of positions over the years, including IdHIMA president in 1996. She also earned the distinguished member award for IdHIMA. Retirement will be filled with raising her registered cattle, skiing, horseback riding and other outdoor activities.
