Free the Need

Follow Message Edit

Who is Free the Need? We are an all-volunteer organization and run entirely on surplus. Since 1989, volunteers have distributed fresh, healthy food and clothing that would have otherwise become landfill. Surplus fruits, vegetables, and bread is collected in both San Francisco and Siskiyou County, where food boxes full of fresh produce (up to 50 lbs each!) are distributed every week. The week before Thanksgiving, over 75 volunteers will be combining forces in San Francisco and Siskiyou County to give away food boxes and turkeys to 850 families in need. In San Francisco, we distribute to families in the Mission District. In Siskiyou County, we distribute to families in under served rural communities.
