A recent study reveals that preserving old-growth forests in BC's Prince George and Okanagan regions could generate an additional $43B in net economic benefits over 100 years. These benefits stem from enhanced carbon storage, recreation, and non-timber products, and far outweigh potential timber revenues. The findings advocate for a paradigm shift in forest management, emphasizing the long-term value of conservation. #forestbenefits (fb)

In Arkansas, duck hunting has long funded wetland preservation through license fees and gear purchases. However, declining waterfowl populations—driven by habitat loss and climate change—now threaten both the sport and the ecosystems it supports. Recent legal shifts, like the 2023 Sackett v. EPA decision, have further weakened wetland protections, leaving conservationists concerned about the future of these vital habitats. #wetlandswork (fb)
