Back Step Strays is a 501(c)(3) public charity in Ware Shoals, South Carolina, dedicated to reducing pet overpopulation and easing the suffering of abandoned and unhoused cats and dogs. Through humane TNR (trap, neuter, and return), community cat colony management, adoption services, and a pet food pantry for families in need, we strive to give every animal a chance at a safe, healthy, and happy life. We also advocate for responsible pet care and promote the importance of spaying and neutering to create a safer and more humane environment for both animals and people.

Back Step Strays Donate Who We Are Back Step Strays is a 501c3 animal welfare organization rooted in a passion for rescuing rehabilitating and rehoming abandoned neglected and stray animals in our community. Founded by dedicated volunteers we are committed to reducing animal overpopulation and providing a safe haven for vulnerable animals in need. Our journey began with a few strays who found refuge on our back steps and since then we have grown into a compassionate network striving to give every animal a chance at a loving permanent home. Our Mission Our mission is to provide compassionate care and promote responsible pet ownership fostering a supportive network of education and advocacy that benefits both animals and people.
