Today's the day! The Lincoln Assassination Conspiracy program happens at 2 pm! See you then! Join us on Zoom at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, for the latest presentation in the Rolland Center’s program series, Linking Lincoln. “The Lincoln Assassination Conspiracy: Tragedy at Ford’s Theatre” explores John Wilkes Booth’s plot 160 years ago to murder President Abraham Lincoln with the help of nine co-conspirators. Through art, photographs, and other artifacts in the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, learn about the events of that tragic day, discover the conspirators’ fates, and follow along the twelve-day manhunt for Booth. Registration is required: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/dDutPy2jRw2LbF_imWVDsQ. For questions, email Lincoln@acpl.info. (fb)

After Elizabeth Todd Edwards, the oldest Todd daughter, moved to Springfield, IL, with her husband, their house became, as Stephen Berry described it, the Edwards’ “marital halfway house.” In 1836, Frances Todd moved into her sister's home to enjoy Springfield society and to find a husband. The first of many marital successes from this house came when Frances married Dr. William Smith Wallace on May 21, 1839. Wallace, a well-known physician in Springfield, ran a shop near Abraham Lincoln’s law office. The Lincoln and Wallace families would be so close that the Lincolns would name their third son Willie after his uncle. Frances and William would have four children of their own.
