When the 2024 NAEP scores were released in late January, Louisiana was one of the few states that performed better than it had in 2019. In fourth-grade reading, Louisiana moved from 42nd to 16th in the nation. The state’s efforts to strengthen and align their early childhood education system are noted as contributing to the state’s success.
