NEVERS SECOND REGIMENT BAND

Founded during the Civil War, Nevers' Band is one of the oldest continuing musical organizations in The mission of the Nevers' Band, is to perpetuate its tradition of live, high quality performances of music for the benefit and enjoyment of all people, to promote and demonstrate the continuing relevance of modern and traditional concert band music and to preserve the history of the Band's regimental origins. As one of New Hampshire's oldest continuing musical organizations, Nevers' Band brings its "living history" to official local, state and other special occasions. With its roots as a Civil War regimental band formed in the Concord-Penacook area, Nevers' Band upholds its relationship with Concord citizens through concerts, educational programs and a scholarship program for students pursuing music studies in high school and college.Nevers' Second Regiment Band compound name derives from its military affiliation with the Second Regiment of the New Hampshire National Guard in the late 1800's and direction for more than half a century by Claremont cornetist, Arthur Nevers. The band also has links to the Civil War Band of 1861 that accompanied the Third New Hampshire Regiment to Hilton Head, South Carolina. Throughout its years of service, Nevers' Band has remained a professional civilian community band, but its military origins have always flavored its history and traditions.
