The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast was founded in 1977 by a group of volunteers dedicated to improving end-of-life care for patients and families in Pinellas County, Florida. Its mission is to: provide dignified, quality care that enhances the lives of dying people and their families; assure the mental, spiritual, physical health and well-being of survivors after loss; lead and influence the health and human services community in the care of all people affected by death; shape public opinion and policy on issues related to death, dying, grief and bereavement. Suncoast Institute is an affiliate of Empath Health, an integrated network of care. Suncoast Institute is strengthened by strong administrative and financial support from Empath Health receiving services such as human resources, purchasing, marketing, grants development, information services, fundraising and regulatory compliance/quality management.
