International African American Museum

Our mission is to honor the untold stories of the African American journey, at one of our nation’s most sacred sites. Located on the site where almost half of all African captives arrived in the U.S., the International African American Museum will share the untold stories of the African American journey at one of our country's most sacred sites. THE MISSION IS TO FURTHER THE INTERNATIONAL AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM'S CHARITABLE PURPOSE OF OPERATING, MAINTAINING, AND PROMOTING A MUSEUM AND EDUCATIONAL CENTER DESIGNED TO INTERPRET AMERICAN HISTORY THROUGH THE LENS OF THE AFRICAN AMERICA EXPERIENCE IN THE LOWCOUNTRY, AND TO ILLUSTRATE THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE AREA TO THE ATLANTIC WORLDS, SPECIFICALLY THE CARIBBEAN, WEST, CENTRAL AFRICA AND EUROPE.
