#PartnerPost – Introducing the DC DOX Festival REALITY CHECK FORUM —a dynamic gathering space where the documentary community comes together to ask hard questions, share bold ideas, imagine new paths forward, and stand in solidarity with one another in the face of urgent challenges. With 25 sessions taking place during the festival (June 12-15), the Forum features a rich lineup of panels, workshops, masterclasses, and a two-day documentary legal clinic—designed to address the realities and possibilities shaping nonfiction filmmaking today. We kick things off with a timely Opening Conversation featuring Gordon Quinn, reflecting on the role of documentary at the frontlines of democracy. From there, the Forum takes on a myriad of key topics and questions: how documentaries can meaningfully confront crisis and change; respond to the rise of AI—both its opportunities and its threats; leverage Washington, D.C. for social change; and use the power of shorts to disrupt and illuminate. Our popular "State of the Industry" and "Anatomy of a Funding Decision" panels return alongside new sessions exploring the evolving role of film journalism in a new media landscape, ethical storytelling, participant care, deep dives into distribution strategies, accessible storytelling, and hands-on masterclasses in editing, archival producing, visual storytelling, and international co-productions. 📣 Ready to join us in DC? Check the full program & speakers, and get your industry pass! (fb)
