It was a fantastic week at Camp KEEP! Thank you Berkshire and Orange Center for spending it with us! 🌿🐾🪶🥾 Bonus lesson: ochre stars 🌊⭐️☯️ The ochre sea star is a tidepool keystone species. Without ochre stars, the biodiversity of our local tidepools would be significantly impacted. Ochre stars feast on mussels, thus allowing other species to thrive. The presence of ochre stars reflects on the health of the intertidal ecosystem. Rising ocean temperatures and ocean acidification have greatly affected the ochre star population, so finding this guy was a good sign! #campkeep #ochrestars #oceanhealth #environmentaleducation (fb)
