GlobeTREK is our one-of-a-kind, round the world travel experience for students in their third year of studies, usually in our Intercultural Studies program. We believe that learning through travel—through experiencing different cultures, time zones, religions, practices head-on—is one of the best ways to sharpen the skills our students have gained in the classroom, and creates globally-minded citizens of the Kingdom. Judah Sutherland is one of our recent GlobeTREKKERs, and he did his Internship in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with Africa Inland Mission. His work mostly consisted of shadowing his mentor's work as the mission representative seeking to expand outreach among unreached people groups. "One of my favourite parts of my six-month portion was the camaraderie and understanding I began to develop with Congolese friends and colleagues over the course of months of interaction and even work side by side. I loved getting to practice my French with locals and connect with people in a deeper way by learning Swahili. One of the biggest things God was teaching me throughout GlobeTREK is how to let him be the Teacher in my life without imposing my own agenda. I believe God was training me to trust in his plan for my growth, looking for his purposes in everything, without worrying so much about having my progress fit my own expectations."
