Japan Society turns 118 years old today! 🎂 Here’s a rare photo of our old building banner, captured shortly after our home on East 47th Street opened in the fall of 1971. Fun fact: The emblem featured in the banner is our original logo. Designed like a traditional Japanese hanko stamp, it reads 日本協会 ("Nihon Kyōkai"), which literally translates to “Japan Society” in English. Thank you to everyone who has supported us, visited our building and engaged with our programs over the decades—from 1907 all the way to today! 🩶 (fb)
