In your opinion, which car looks best from the rear? This is our 1963 Corvette, featuring the iconic one-year-only rear split window. While collectible today, many drivers of the era claimed the design reduced visibility, with some even installing an aftermarket one piece. (fb)

t's a car, It's a boat, some say it's not particularly great at being either. Would you hit the road or the waves? The Amphicar is a unique amphibious vehicle produced in West Germany between 1961 and 1968. Designed by Hans Trippel, it was marketed as the world's first mass-produced car that could operate on both land and water. Powered by a rear-mounted 1.2-liter Triumph engine, it drove the rear wheels on land and twin propellers in water. Despite its novelty and charming design, the Amphicar struggled with performance—its top speed was about 70 mph on land and 7 knots in water—and it was prone to leaks, requiring diligent maintenance. About 3,878 units were made, with the majority sold in the United States. Though not a commercial success, the Amphicar became a beloved collector’s item and is remembered today as a quirky icon of 1960s automotive innovation. (fb)
