Sanctuary Hostel is a non-profit organization registered in the United States as a 501(c)(3) and in Mexico as an Asociación Civil. It was founded in 2020 with a mission to educate people on animal welfare and reduce the number of stray animals on the streets.

Mission and Vision

The organization aims to create a self-sustained eco-friendly sanctuary where humans and animals can live in harmony. Sanctuary Hostel combines an eco-hostel with an animal rescue operation in Rosarito, Mexico, allowing volunteers to stay and participate in animal care activities. This approach helps to fund the rescue operations and provides educational opportunities to raise awareness about animal welfare.

Founding Story

The founder, a disabled AF veteran pursuing monastic life, was inspired to establish Sanctuary Hostel after witnessing the treatment of stray animals during a visit to Mexico in 2018. Recognizing the need for not only rescuing animals but also changing societal attitudes towards them, the founder established the organization to provide a comprehensive approach to animal welfare.
