In the 1960s, Opal Smith began a quiet revolution - a mission to build a space where individuals facing mental illness could feel heard, understood, and valued. Decades later, her daughter Dorothy continues that legacy as a dedicated Ex-Officio Board Member of the Mental Health Association. We celebrate their enduring impact alongside the hundreds of volunteers who’ve carried this torch of advocacy and openness.
