TO FURTHER THE EDUCATIONAL, HOUSING, TRANSPORTATION, ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE CITIZENS OF FLORIDA PRIMARILY WITHIN THE TEN COUNTIES SERVED BY THE SUWANNEE RIVER ECONOMIC COUNCIL, INC. THESE COUNTIES ARE BRADFORD, COLUMBIA, DIXIE, GILCHRIST, HAMILTON, LAFAYETTE, MADISON, SUWANNEE, TAYLOR AND UNION. THIS INCLUDES:1. ADMINISTERING THE PROGRAMS OF THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY AND OTHER APPROPRIATE AGENCIES IN THE PRIMARILY AFOREMENTIONED TEN COUNTY AREA.2. WORKING WITH THE THREE SIGNIFICANT GROUPS IN THE COMMUNITY; THAT IS, THE POOR, THE PUBLIC SECTOR AND THE PRIVATE SECTOR, TO SEEK OUT, IDENTIFY AND ELIMINATE THE CAUSE OF POVERTY WITHIN THE COMMUNITY.3. MAKING THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY MORE RESPONSIVE TO THE NEEDS AND INTERESTS OF THE POOR BY MOBILIZING AVAILABLE RESOURCES.4. PLANNING AND DEVELOPING A SYSTEM OF PRIORITIES AMONG PROJECTS, ACTIVITIES AND AREAS AS NEEDED FOR THE MOST EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT USES OF RESOURCES.
